Life..and energy… can they be captured in an image?

We are in the process of glazing the tiles for the mural at Casa Elios!  The tiles are turning out great and it should be a wonderful encouragement and challenge to those at Casa Elios to reflect on the true meaning of life.
John 17:3
“And this is the way to have eternal life- to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth”

What wisdom is…
“What matters in driving is the speed and appropriateness of your reactions to things, and the soundness of your judgement as to what scope a situation gives you.  You do not ask yourself why the road should narrow or screw itself into a dog-leg wiggle, just where it does, nor why that van should be parked where it is, now why the driver in front should hug the crown of the road so lovingly; you simply try to see and do the right thing in the actual situation that presents itself.  The effect of divine wisdom is to enable you and me to do just that in the actual situations of everyday life.”
from Knowing God by J.I. Packer

O Lord, God of Israel, there is no God like you in all of heaven and earth. You keep your promises and show unfailing love to all who obey you and are eager to do your will.

‘I am the Lord,’ he says, ‘and there is no other. I publicly proclaim bold promises. I do not whisper obscurities in some dark corner so no one can understand what I mean. And I did not tell the people of Israel to ask me for something I did not plan to give. I, the Lord, speak only what is true and right.’

But the Christian thinks any good he does comes from the Christ-life inside him. He does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us; just as the roof of a greenhouse does not attract the sun because it is bright, but becomes bright because the sun shines on it.

“‘To whom will you compare me?  Who is my equal?’ asks the Holy One.  Look up into the heavens.  Who created all the stars?  He brings them out one after another, calling each by its name.  And he counts them to see that none are lost or have strayed away.”
Isaiah 40:25-26

Who else has held the oceans in his hand? Who has measured off the heavens with his fingers? Who else knows the weight of the earth of has weighed out the mountains and the hills? Who is able to advise the Spirit of the Lord? Who knows enough to be his teacher or counselor? Has the Lord ever needed anyone’s advice? Does he need instruction about what is good or what is best? No, for all the nations of the world are nothing in comparison to him. They are but a drop in the bucket, dust on the scales. He picks up the islands as though they had no weight at all.

This Sunday we celebrated our 5th anniversary at my local church here in Florence!  It is amazing to see how God has grown the people of our church in these years, and I for one am a changed person!  God brought me to this beautiful church to help me grow and learn how to love Jesus more with my whole life!! Thank you Lord for my lovely church home away from home in Florence!

Just a few words from Pastor Andrea of Logos Church:

“This photo just confirms the grace, mercy and love of God for me in such a deep and personal way.  I can’t help but think of Paul’s words, ‘For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you?  Indeed, you are our glory and joy.’ (1 Thessalonians 2:19-20)  The same feelings are present in my heart regarding the Logos Church body, my joy.  Thank you Lord for the work that you have started in Florence, in the hearts of so many sinners such as us, unworthy and lacking in holiness.  Thank you Lord for you forgiveness and your grace, thank you for Jesus, his death, his burial and his resurrection, and thank you for the Holy Spirit that continues to work, bringing new hearts to you.”

To God alone the glory!  What amazing grace we have in him!  Let’s not forget to be forever grateful!

Do you ever find yourself in difficulty when reading the Old Testament, finding yourself not relating to the people and time and culture?  Have you ever found yourself thinking it is just too remote to find correlations to today?
Well, reading chapter 7 of “Knowing God” by J.I. Packer might remind you of some important truths about God’s immutability…. here are a couple highlights on this idea of the Old being too old…

“The sense of remoteness is an illusion which springs from seeking the link between our situation and that of the various Bible characters in the wrong place.  It is true that in terms of space, time, and culture, they, and the historical epoch to which they belonged, are a very long way away from us.  But the link between them and us is not found at that level.
The link is God himself.  For the God with whom that had to do is the same God with whom we have to do.”
“God does not change.”
“But you remain the same, and your years will never end.” Psalms 102:27 NLT
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8 NLT
